Dr. Hamid Mir is a board certified orthopedic spine surgeon with fellowship training in combined neurosurgical and orthopedic spine surgery in 2004. He practices in Orange County and Los Angeles. He specializes in cervical, thoracic, and lumbar diseases including degenerative, stenosis, fracture, infection, scoliosis, revision, and complex reconstructions. Dr. Mir utilizes Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery techniques in treatment of spinal conditions and is an esteemed member of the DISC Sports & Spine Center.
Upon completion of his B.S. at University of California, San Diego in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with “Distinction in Honors in Biology”. Dr. Mir attended State University of New York, HSCB, School of Medicine and graduated cum laude and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society. He then attended the orthopedic surgery residency at University of Illinois at Chicago, where he gained extensive training in treatment of spinal conditions including complex spinal deformity and scoliosis including children scoliosis at the Shriners Hospital. He was awarded the prestigious Christopher Pavildes Award for “Excellence in Orthopaedic Surgery”. Dr. Mir then completed a one year fellowship in complex spine surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center and was selected to receive the Depuy’s award: “Dedicated to Advancement of Spinal Sciences”.
Dr. Mir is passionate in treating patients with spinal conditions and treats the whole patient rather than only the disorder. As a compassionate spine surgeon, he provides personalized and individualized treatment to meet the patient’s needs which can include various forms of therapy, medications, epidural injections and/or surgery. For those patients who require surgery, the latest technology with proven efficacy is utilized to produce the most optimal results. Patient education and prevention is also of a high priority for him.
Committed to research and advancement of spine care, Dr. Mir has extensive research experience with multiple abstracts, national presentations including posterior cervical fusion techniques at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He has authored chapters on “Anterior Cervical System”; Surgical Techniques in Spinal Instrumentation and “The Unconstrained Implant”; Non-Fusion Techniques for the Spine.
Dr. Mir is married and has a daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing piano and tennis.
